Here is a recap of our outing Saturday; we met up with our fellow bird bloggers and it is amazing how much you can learn from one another. Plus it is always fun to put names and faces and learn who blogs and who twitters. This social networking on the internet certainly has run away with a whole other world. We started out at the
Lowry Nature Center at
Carver Park, which is located in beautiful
Victoria, MN. The staff at the nature center brought out two of the birds they use for educational purposes one is a
Merlin and the second was a
Barred Owl.

To
Penelope and her husband
Dave and
Dawn and her husband
Jeff thanks for letting us look through your scopes, the detail we were able to view with that was amazing.

Here we have from left to right Bees in the City's
Virginia,
Dave (
Penny's Husband) behind him we have
Lynne, then hidden is
Ruthie J and next to her is
Jeff Dawn's husband then to the right of them we have
Richard who is comparing cameras with
Dawn. We did see quite a few Gold Finches, I believe we saw after looking through my bird book a female Common Yellowthroat. Sorry no photo on our side. Mike was able to get some photos of the
American Redstart and a
Green Heron.

Before we ended our time at Carver we took a group photo and then head out for lunch at Victoria House. Food was yummy loved the view of the lake across the street.

I really enjoyed meeting the two of you. I think the day turned out well.
It's too bad I missed most of the bloggers Saturday night. I ended up at the table with most of the bird and beer regulars and didn't really get to talk with people at the booth because there really was not any room. I guess I will have to try harder next time.
We very much enjoyed the day as well Lynne. Thanks for having us join in.

It was a crowded one Saturday, so we understand the situation. True it would have been fun getting to know each other and yes hopefully next time we will get the chance. I admit I wasn't sure if we should interupt your conversation at the time we were leaving, since they are the regular you talk with.
Thanks,
Mike
You photos turned out great! It was such a treat to be able to see the merlin and barred owl up close and I really like the flying green heron shot!
What a fun day it was and I'm glad I got to meet both of you.
Finally i get to read your post..We have been traveling and my internet was pretty much no existant.
I also did a three part post for the event.
Great pictures and post.
Thanks for making me smile..nice memories!
Wonderful photos - and thanks for such great, detailed posts. It's fun to have the scope, but I look forward sometime to having a camera with more than a 3X zoom! Happy birding, and hope to see you again.
Thanks Penelope, we know the feeling some times we think a camera will do good and then we see what a scope can do.
Dawn we can imagine that it can be maddening to have intermittent connection specially if you are in the middle of downloading something important. Let alone just daily visits.
